Role Purpose:

  • To understand the business requirements of BI context and design data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights.
  • Convert business requirements into technical specifications and implement them through reports that support decision-making

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in analysis and design sessions – work with business analysts to determine the best fit Power BI solution for Verex
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge, certification and skills with the Microsoft PowerBI platform
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, mentoring and skills development of the team
  • Lead delivery of complete BI solutions with internal teams
  • Delve for insights in data and processes to help improve the business
  • Communicate progress with project teams
  • Produce technical and user documentation
  • Design, Development, Testing, providing Power BI scripts, performing detailed analysis
  • Perform DAX queries and functions in Power BI
  • Analysing the current ETL process, defining and designing new systems
  • Data warehouse development and working with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
  • Redefining changes to improve existing business intelligence systems and designing technically / strategically
  • Creating customized diagrams and user-defined calculations as needed
  • Design, develop and deploy business intelligence solutions with SQL queries for best results, filters, and graphs to better understand your data at all levels for performance improvements and suggestions
  • Implementation of specifications, from provided specifications and requirements alongside the business analyst
  • Data Staging and general support related to Reports, Data Warehouses and Analytics Solutions
  • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation for processes and procedures required

Role Requirements

  • Agile working. You can identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes. You know how to help the team to decide the best approach. You can help teams to manage and visualise outcomes, prioritise work and work to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), print and scope.
  • BI Requirements. Understand objective/ requirements on various business levels with regards to Business Intelligence applications to visualize meaningful insights
  • Business improvement process. You know how to analyse current services and processes, and can identify and implement opportunities to optimise these. You can help to evaluate and establish requirements using relevant techniques such as gap analysis
  • BI Design. Conceptualize and Design the best fit solution against the requirements
  • ETL and Data Warehouse. Work closely with the Data Engineer to analyse current and required ETL processes. Contribute to the DW design and optimization.
  • Innovation. You know about innovation and can apply this to your own work
  • Stakeholder relationship management. You know how to identify important stakeholders, tailoring communication to their needs, and work with teams to build relationships while also meeting user needs. You have the ability to take opposing views to reach consensus. You understand how to work with stakeholders and contribute to improving these relationships, using evidence to explain decisions made.
  • Understanding of SQL programming language and relational database architecture (although not to programmer level) as well as interrogating and understanding large data sets
  • Ability to use PowerBI to do quick concept design to help the customer visualise the potential data presentation.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Qualificitations

  • Relevant Degree e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems
  • Microsoft Power BI Certified
  • At least 5-7 years’ experience
